This remodeling process will help guide you with the insight on how we at Turning Point Designer Renovations operate and our keys to achieving the successful remodeling projects with satisfied customers.

Our First Appointment

During our first conversation is when you will be able to share with us a general idea of your plan and we will discuss the desires and goals you have for your new space. At your convenience, we will schedule our first visit to your home to begin planning the project. It is best to plan for our first visit by allowing about an hour of time to meet with us. We know and respect that your time is valuable and it’s our pledge that we will arrive on time for our appointment. When you meet with us, be prepared to share your visions and outline your goals for the project. If you have pictures, drawings, and images that you would like us to use for inspiration, this is the best time to let us review them. We will listen to your remodeling plan and offer our advice on the best method to accomplishing the project. Once we have listened to your goals it’s time to see the space. This is when we obtain detailed measurements and photographs to help us complete a comprehensive Estimate and Scope of work. Often we will need to see adjoining rooms and have access to basements and attics to aid in our planning.
Design & Planning
Any reputable Remodeling Contractor should always provide you with floor plan drawings, layouts, and measurements of the proposed project. As a part of our remodeling process, this is our standard, and we always present a 2 dimensional floor plan and layout to ensure there is no confusion on how the renovation will unfold and ultimately succeed. These drawings will show the existing space, the layout of the new walls, location of fixtures and cabinets, and placement of lighting and electrical devices.

Additionally we employ the latest in remodeling design software and offer the ability to produce realistic 3D representations of your renovations that can even include the exact paint colors you wish to use. This helps you visualize your space and can be a valuable resource to see how the space flows, if fixture placement meets your needs, and gives great detail in how the finished product and design will highlight your lifestyle.

The Remodeling Estimate
With the project design and layout completed and approved, it is now time for us to complete comprehensive project cost estimation. This is the point when materials and fixtures will be selected. A second visit to your home will often occur with our Professional, Licensed, and Insured Sub-Contractors who will offer their expertise and gather information to complete an estimate for the project. Once all the materials and fixtures have been selected and the Sub-Contractor cost estimates are complete, we will draft a detailed project estimate and scope of work. . Today we will meet with you to go over the estimated cost of your Remodeling Project and provide a detailed Scope of Work as well as a payment schedule. We will then discuss proposed start dates and timelines.

Permits & Scheduling

The Remodeling Contract and Agreement is required by Wisconsin State Law and ultimately meant for your protection. With each project we have a detailed contract that encompasses your rights and expectations, the contract covers everything including; costs, start and finish dates, and the warranty. Once the contract is signed we are ready for Building Permits. The first step we take in obtaining permits for your project is to submit the required application with two sets of scale construction drawings and any applicable fees. Additionally some projects require 3D elevations of proposed designs, certified surveys, and approvals from a local Design Review Board. The Inspector will then review the application and drawings to ensure they meet applicable minimum codes. There is not concern to obtaining permits; we have the knowledge, experience, and good standing with Inspectors to make this process painless. Once the Inspector approves the plans and issues a Permit, we are ready to confirm our scheduled start date.
Project Start – Project Completion
Don’t forget to take your before pictures prior to the project start date! When the day does arrive, it will be the most anticipated day for you as a Homeowner. It’s also the most frustrating when the wrong Contractor was hired. We don’t believe in leaving you with a mess so we clean up daily, but there could be some dust in the followings days and weeks. We will do all that we can to minimize the impact on your Family while living in thru a Remodel . Also once we start on your project we will be onsite until it’s finished and don’t disappear for days at a time, you’re never alone with us. Once all the work has been completed and all the inspections have passed, the mess and dust is gone, the paint is dry, and your new space is gorgeous and ready for years of enjoyment. It’s time to call your Family and Friends and invite them over to showcase your new space and feel free to brag a little. We are always proud of our work and hope that you can enjoy the new space as much as we enjoyed creating it for you.
